Well if this mayor (apparently alot of people in Calgary are behind him on this) decided to run a campaign on public money for public services then I don't see the issue .

On the other hand this could just be flames ownership selling off the classical corporate welfare bum plea for more money .....

The amount they wanted Calgary taxpayers to provide was unreasonable. 1.2 billion. We could build a ton of schools, hospitals, roads, minor hockey rinks, with that money. We have a great arena already. It's shaped like a saddle.

Nenshi is well liked and has done a really good job cleaning that city up. He's offered them an alternative that works for the city and the Flames picked up their ball and left the court.

To hell with them.

Murray Edwards and Ken King are 2 of the scum bags in the city. They wasted the cities time with Calgary NEXT proposal bc it was all smoke and mirrors to put public pressure on council.

They are doing it again with this stunt.

Nenshi WAS a good mayor. Nenshi forgot as seemingly all politicians do, what got him elected. I have had the pleasure of dealing with him on several issues. He's a smug, self promoting opportunist who has divided council so it has become completely dysfunctional.

Regardless of the arena, and I do support taxpayer money (how/what/how much tbd) but that has nothing to do with my dislike for Nenshi.

And Ek, please. Just dumb.
